The Research Center on Public Health (CESP) of the University of Milano – Bicocca contributes to POLARIS Research Center with a research group devoted to environmental epidemiology.

CESP was founded in 1984, with the original aim of fostering the investigation of cardiovascular health by participating to national and international registries of pathology. During the last decade, the Center has also supported epidemiological studies based on data from healthcare administrative databases.

Since 2008, the Center has included environmental epidemiology in its activities, starting with the investigation of the short-term relationship between exposure to particulate matter and cardiorespiratory health in the population of Lombardy Region.
